No classes those two days for a good reason! gail needs a chance to re-charge her batteries and this August is her time again. Some history: Joyce Nance, MD retired Pediatrician from Southern California, came to Ghost Ranch in New Mexico for Watercolor Workshops which gail taught there. In the early 1930’s Joyce’s parents bought a house with acreage on the Hood Canal in the State of Washington. Over the years Joyce has grown that house and land into a compound of four houses. Each fall Joyce invites gail and a few other ladies from those Ghost Ranch Workshops to her compound on ‘The Hood’ for seven full days of painting, fun, fellowship, food, including their own just picked clams and oysters from ‘The Hood’, and whatever else they want to eat that comes from the Pacific. This area of Washington State has become a hide-away for the ultra-rich and famous. Right across the Hood Canal from Joyce’s place Bill and Melinda Gates have a compound. Next to that is a luxurious Resort and next to that is the Nordstrom Compound. The Gates, the Resort and the Nordstrom’s all have sea planes that fly in and out of their locations. The Hood Canal is truly a breath-taking setting and wonderful time for gail to have a full week of uninterrupted painting with likeminded artists friends.

Watercolor Underpaintings/8 Unique Applications

The results of these eight unique techniques are exciting underpaintings which also have areas of sparkling whites. However, with this process, you, to some extent, must let the medium dictate the direction you will take. At those moments, the painting itself will be ‘in charge’. Two artists from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bev Silsby and Katie Beason asked gail to teach the Albuquerque Watercolor Workshop which they produced, marketed and directed in their city April 4-8, 2005 wrote the following: “gail can get more color out of watercolor than you can imagine. She is Literal, Impressionist and Abstract! How can she do that you ask?” Learn the answer to the sister’s questions at this Workshop. November 30, December 1 and 2, 2018. Friday and Saturday 9:30 AM-4:00 PM Sunday 8:30 AM-3:00 PM. $175.00 for the three-day workshop. For additional information and to register for this Workshop, call gail or Ken at 678-603-1502.

By the way, Plaza Art Nashville is the largest Artist Supply Store in Tennessee and probably largest in all of the Southeast. They have just about everything an artist of any medium would need and want! Coming to this Workshop will introduce you a REAL Art Store with a knowledgeable, helpful, friendly staff who know art and want you to find and have whatever you want and need. Since the mid-90’s the General Manager of the Plaza has been Bruce Baker who has a Master of Fine Arts Degree. He makes sure all those who walk through his front door are cared for with the very best of interest, understanding and service. For all those years gail and Ken have known Bruce as a great guy and can vouch that for all those years that his interest is in how best he and his staff can serve the artists. For our teaching purpose Plaza has two classrooms that will accommodate up to 20 student artists per room and one room that will hold 12.

Additional Great News: Bruce and Plaza are offering to all who attend gail’s Workshop a 30% discount on art supplies they purchase during the Workshop!
