Composition~Shapes: Everything is made up of abstract shapes. An ideal composition usually includes a combination of organic, geometric and abstract shapes. You as the artists “In Charge” are a Shape Maker. Always ask yourself: “Is that a good Shape?”.

There are five ways to apply pigment to watercolor paper: 1. Wet on Dry; 2. Wet into Wet; 3. Dry on Wet; 4. Dry on Dry; and 5. Bridge of Color. To quote Edgar Whitney “If you paint watercolor wet into wet, that is the most natural way.”

Even though it’s work, painting can be fun. Creativity is always a struggle. As Robert Henri said: Your painting should look “like it was painted by a man going over the top of a hill, singing.…The painting that looks as if it were done without an effort may have been a perfect battlefield in its making.”

My Story: 1982 a neighbor said, “Let’s take a watercolor class”. I replied, “I love watercolor, BUT I DRAW STICK PEOPLE.” I took the class.” It has been a fun, creative and challenging life. IF YOU WANT IT, YOU CAN DO IT! YOU JUST GOTTA WANT IT!
